Get The Show On The Road

Brandon Here…
Since the Doctor’s office closes at 5 PM, Kim figured she ought to stop in and have them see what progress she had made after 12 hours of contractions. Turns out…not much. Same numbers as the other day. The birthing center finally slowed down for the week (101 babies so far) so they said that they would just admit her and break her water if she wants. Yes, please.
So we checked into Casa Longmont United Hospital. Kim is in her gown and ready to roll. Grandma is back at home with Ne Ne.
Will it be a long night?

(Where are the Playboys? Inside joke.)

It’s Baby Time

Four hours later and its definitely a go on baby time…at least I think so. Contractions are about 7-8 minutes apart and getting much stronger and longer. If I walk around they are closer together but not quite as intense. Not sure which one progesses you faster. Longer contractions but slightly farther part or closer together but not as long.
Anyway, its light outside now so am going to hit the shower, try to eat a little something and maybe try to walk around outside.
Will post when we head out to hospital. I have a feeling it will be several hours but you never know with these things.
Looks like Grandma got here just in time. And, the baby is coming over the weekend for perfect timing. Maybe this kid isn’t so stubborn afterall.
Oh, and yes we are excited it is finally coming but, OUCH! I forgot about this part.
Grandma and Syd are still sleeping so trying to keep it quiet around here.

Nothing Yet

I officially think this kid is more stubborn then Syd. Yes, Syd was 4 days late. We are only late 2 so far. But, I did not have labor signs as long as I am having with this kid with absolutely no results. Tuesday night I thought for sure it was starting. I had small contractions for about 2 hours nonstop, but they were not gaining in strength. Then they just started to slow down and then stop altogether. Last night and today I have been having longer and slightly stronger contractions but very sporadic. Maybe one or two an hour. I think this kid is definitely trying to mess with my head. If I have to hold out until the inducement on Monday I will not be a happy camper. Especially with all this teasing of I am coming…oh just kidding.
Good news is Grandma gets in tonight to watch Syd while we are in the hospital. So this means we won’t have to call neighbors in the middle of the night and wake Syd up to put her in a strange bed. She gets to stay home and play with Gram all day. She won’t even miss boring ole Mom.
Anyway, I think I am going to go do some jump rope and jumping jacks to show this kid who is boss. Just a little bumpy ride to teach her not to mess with Mom.

D-Day is here and no sign of upcoming baby yet. Yesterday I thought for sure, from how I was feeling, that it was going to come in the middle of the night. But, today I feel fine. Yesterday was my final checkup and the doctor decided to do another cervical exam. I was 3 cm and 50% effaced, one more cm dilated then last week. He also said the baby looks like it is approaching 9 pounds so lucky for me I get to try and push out a hulk baby. Looking forward to that workout, not. I am sure there will be lots of lovely tearing as in the case with 8 lb 13 oz Syd. He decided it best to go ahead and schedule an induction for Monday just in case the baby has not come by then. He was contemplating doing it this week but the birthing center has been overcrowded with babies this week. They were not accepting any inductions unless it was an emergency. Though, he does think it will be here before then since I am already 3 cm and its my second baby.
On a more disquisting front. There are all sorts of lovely things going on with my body right now that also make me think it will be soon. I have had black, and I mean black, diarrhea about four times a day for the past 4 days. Guess this is good so that I don’t crap all over the nurses as I push. My body is definitely keeping itself cleaned out. I am having lots of downward pressure in my stomach the last two days. I am losing a good amount of bloody show with a side of cramps. And of course, I have not been able to sleep much over the last two nights. The pressure in my stomach makes it too uncomfortable to lie down too long. Nature’s way of making you exhausted for the big workout to come.
Other then that I have been trying to stay on my feet a lot throughout the day. Hoping gravity will help play a role in this thing. We are walking a lot, but nothing helping yet. Brandon has his bets on a Thursday baby, we’ll see.
