3 More Weeks

Well, what’s new?? I have finally gotten the nursery painted, Wallies up, furniture cleaned from top to bottom and in place, baby supplies bought and put away, and the carpet cleaned. So you could say the room is ready for baby minus the curtains. This all took me a good 3-4 weeks given that I tire easy which was annoying. But, at least its a start. I still need to go to storage and get the other essentials in order. Blankets, clothes, swing, carseat, bouncers, etc. etc. We have forgotten just how much stuff a new baby needs. I wasn’t able to reuse as much this time around since it had been used by two prior messy kids. But, at least some stuff has been salvageable. No one ever said kids were cheap.
Next I need to head back to the Maternity store and get myself some nursing pj’s/shirts. Brandon has demanded that I burn the old pj’s since they are stained with “spilled milk” literally. Guess I can’t argue with that one. Plus, the clothes are much more stylish now. Not all pink and flowery like before.
We had our Delivery Discussion with the OB yesterday. We didn’t learn anything new there. He had another women about to give birth so we ran through everything very quickly. Third time around you aren’t so nervous about things. He gave us the hospital admission papers, important phone numbers, and told us when to head in. Can’t think of anything else needed. We have the final ultrasound scheduled for the 10th to see just how big this kid really is. Should be interesting to have one so late in pregnancy. Hopefully the 3D is working.
I have been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions over the last couple of weeks. Some nights to the point that I am stuck in bed because they can make me nauseous when I have so many. I don’t understand why they call them contractions. Feels more like severe cramping and muscle pinches to me. I am also having a lot of discomfort when trying to walk around too much. The muscles in my lower abdomen are about stretched to the limit and are giving out on me a lot. A lot of sharp pains and back muscle spasms when I do too much. Last week I had to pick Syd up at camp and the muscles were acting up. Could only take a few steps before I had to stop and let the pinches settle down. Must have looked like I was in full blown labor. I felt pretty stupid looking anyway.
Other then that we are all getting very anxious and excited to see this new little baby. The girls are asking a lot of questions about just how I get the baby out. And they are worried that Daddy is going to be really mad because he has to sleep at the hospital with me. They can’t understand why Dad would need to be there at all. But hey, at least their going to be worried about someone during the delivery.
Here’s the latest picture. I don’t have to look at myself too often so needless to say I was quite surprised when I saw this one. The pounds have really packed themselves on.

31 Weeks

Here’s the latest pic of the apparent enormous kid growing inside of me. Less then nine weeks to go. How big can it get? All I have to say is just looking at that huge bulge makes me very, very tired. Enough said!

Week 30

I had my week 30 OB check this morning along with a follow-up ultrasound to double check the baby’s gender. Baby was extremely cooperative with her positioning for the gender check. Definitely a girl, no surprises there. I had never had an ultrasound this late in the pregnancy before so it was fun to see how much more developed the baby had become. She had much more fat on her body making her look less like a skeleton and more like a baby. She had really full lips and chunky cheeks. She moved around constantly and often opened and closed her mouth as if she were talking to us. Then when it was time to get the 3D photo she flipped over and made the positioning impossible. So that was a bummer but what can you do.
So the doctor’s report at the end of the ultrasound was short and simple…”Fetus is very large.” Just awesome, can’t wait to push this kid out! All of her measurements had her about two weeks bigger then her age. Her abdomen, head, and legs all were measuring in at 32 and 1/2 weeks so the doc said she is overall “just one big baby.” Not just fat but a big head and long body.
So then we had the discussion on when they decide if the kid is too big for you to deliver it on your own. Rules are if the kid is under 10 pounds they let Mom go into labor on her own. If the kid looks like it is going to be over 10 pounds they go straight for a cesarean and don’t even let you try for a natural birth. Apparently because they don’t think you can push out the shoulders and would end up having an emergency C section anyway. They won’t induce any earlier then 38 weeks because they want to give the lungs every chance to develop fully. So at this point its a wait and see game. He is going to do another ultrasound at 36 weeks to see if the growth curve has continued. Then we decide from there. Right now she is in the 80% percentile on size. If she stays on this curve she will be in the 9 pound plus range at full term. So that seems doable. Syd was 8 lb 12 oz and Reagan was 7 lb 13. So that doesn’t seem too much bigger, right?
Only other question I had for him was why I have this one dime sized spot on my belly that is extremely painful when she kicks it. Seems to be a favorite spot of hers. Doc says as my tummy gets bigger the muscles start shredding, I knew that already. But, apparently there are nerves in the tissue as well that start shredding. The kid seems to have found one of these nerves and likes using it as target practice. It just about knocks me to the floor when she hits it.
Here is the latest pic and ultrasound. You can see her full lips and chubby cheeks. Towards the end of the ultrasound you can see her open and close her mouth. I assume she is taking a drink but who knows.

Third Trimester Begins

This weekend I officially entered the third trimester. So the end is getting near, YEAH! Today I had my 28 week OB check along with the dreaded glucose test. So I had to drink the awful cup of orange sugar syrup and wait for the blood test. This time it seemed to effect me more then the previous pregnancies. Got very dizzy, extremely light headed, and had trouble focusing on anything with my eyes. Hopefully that doesn’t mean there are any problems with my insulin this time around. I really, really don’t want to have to mess with that. Will know those results in a few days.
With the third trimester comes the now every two week OB checks instead of the monthly schedule. Which I guess is good since its always a bit of a relief to be told baby looks good. They are going to do another ultrasound in two weeks to double check the gender. I am pretty much assured its a girl but the doc doesn’t like having that question mark on my chart. So I think I am going to put off painting the nursery until then.
The bambino seems to be running out of room already because she likes to really push out on my stomach with what feels like her head or back. I can tell exactly where she is most of the time which is different then with the girls. She tends to be pushed out against my stomach a lot making it obviously hard where she is laying. Then when she pushes too hard all I have to do it push back slightly on her with my hand and she flips out. Pretty fun that I can begin torturing the kid already. So comparatively, this kid tends to prefer making big full stomach movements over the little kicks that the girls did. So when she is awake I really know it. Pretty cool for me. The doc said she is only two finger widths away from the bottom of my rib cage so I expect the shortness of breath to start soon. My Mom always said she could feel me kicking in between her ribs. So I’m curious to see if that is the case with this little one….
I am feeling pretty good most days. Seem to still have energy for the nonstop projects that need to be done around here before baby. However, starting to get a lot of discomfort in my legs by mid afternoon. Then by the end of the day they are swollen and painful. Walking around too much is really uncomfortable which is quite the nuisance during the summer. Need to remember to keep taking breaks and sitting with raised legs but hard to make yourself stop mid project. I am definitely feeling the bursts of energy becoming shorter lived as the third trimester takes effect. As I seem to get tired more quickly. So all that just means I need to get the nursery and house back into order before I get too much further along.
The girls got out of school two weeks ago and are enjoying their summer vacation. Last week it took them a full 24 hours to be bored with no place to go. They pretty much spend the entire day outside which is great for me. This week they are enjoying the Denver zoo camp. Today rained all day but they had no complaints. I think they thought it was cool to walk around the zoo with an umbrella. Much better than being stuck at home for my busy bodies.
We got the pool set up last weekend and are looking forward to some warmer weather so we can enjoy the water. Though the cold water doesn’t seem to slow the girls down from jumping in. So the girls and I are keeping busy and having fun together for the summer. I hate the fact that Sydney is going to be in school full days this coming school year. She is my little helper and I like having her around in the afternoons after school. So trying to get the most out of the summer with her before starting the big first grade. Hard to believe it…

24 Weeks

Well, I’m still here and pregnant. Well over half way done. 15 more weeks and a couple days to go. Feeling pretty good most of the time. Except for the really bad lower back pain. Doc says its mostly due to this being my third pregnancy and the muscles that support your abdomen are pretty much shot after being through two previous pregnancies. So basically the back pain starts earlier, gets worse, and I’m pretty much stuck with it. She suggested I keep up with the chiropractor visits, massages and using the exercise ball at night to stretch out the hips. I’ve also decided to add nightly massages by hubby to the regimen. Its a nice little perk of pregnancy.
I’ve got a good start on Reagan’s new room decor. Room is empty, wallpaper is off, new furniture is ordered, and I’m finishing the wall repair so that the paint can go up. Then B gets to load up the furniture so that the Wallies can go up. Once her room is done I get to start all over in the bambinos room. So I will pretty much be living in home repair for the next few months. But its not too hard to keep up the motivation when you’ve got little girls squealing with delight with how much they LOVE the new room.
The weather lately has been pretty sucky. Rainy or cold most days with a little teaser of a nice spring day thrown in every once in awhile. However the last few days have been beautiful so I am hoping warm weather is finally here. The weather, sick kids, back aches, birthday parties, and not being able to bend over has left me very behind in the yard work department. Am hoping to jump at it now that the weather is improving. I am literally salivating at the mouth to go buy my annuals but promised I wouldn’t until the yard is half way presentable. So must get a move on. I really need my flowers to make the summer for me.
Here is the latest picture of the bump. It actually doesn’t look much bigger then the last picture but believe me it is. The main difference being that the tummy is much more solid now and any bending at the waist is pretty much impossible. Enjoy!

What’s Up!

1. I’ve been sick over the last week, AGAIN! Really getting tired of feeling like crap all of the time. Makes me feel even more worthless to my family. I have probably the worst chest and sinus congestion that I’ve ever had in my life. The horrible headaches are almost constant since my head is so tightly compacted. My chest feels really heavy and its hard to pull air into my lungs. Apparently the only safe medication is the normal Sudafed which isn’t helping. My pre-natal vitamins usually keep my healthy as a horse during pregnancy but they seem to have failed me this time around.
2. We had the big ultrasound last Wednesday. Surprise, its a girl! Well, at least the doc is 90% sure of this. The baby was sitting indian style with the umbilical cord wrapped between her legs. So he had trouble getting a good view. But, he could find no boy parts and what he could see resembled girl. I’m convinced its definitely a girl and think he just wanted to let us down easy. I have to admit that I was disappointed at first. Love my girls but thought it would be nice to have a Momma’s boy. I have now succumbed to the fact that the house will be lacking in the testosterone department and am excited to see our next little princess. May need to buy stock in Tampax, but I’ve got a few years for that.
3. I am now almost 21 weeks through this pregnancy. So that means I am more then half way done. Very excited about that fact. Although, I have been too busy or too sick to give it much thought lately. This pregnancy does seem to be going quickly for me. Which is a good thing. I think its due to the fact that there are two other kiddies running around that need Mommy. Plus, I am not nervous this time around. The first time around I was scared to be a Mom. The second time around I was worried that I wouldn’t love this kid as much as the first. Or that Syd would feel neglected because of the new baby. This time I know what to expect. The girls are older and we are already so excited to meet this one. Plus, Brandon seems more into it this time around. So its much more peaceful for me this time.
4. I’ve just today realized that this baby won’t be able to wear her sister’s hand me downs. This one will be born in the fall. Needing warmer clothes. My first two girls were born in late Spring so all my 0-6 months clothes are for summer. Good news, I get to buy all new adorable baby girl clothes. Bad news, I have to buy all new baby girl clothes 🙂 At least some of the pj’s and layettes will still work. So I really don’t have to buy that much. And Grandma, this does not mean I am in the market for your friends grandkids seconds. The girls are way too excited about hitting the stores and keeping their little sister dressed like a princess. They are going to spoil this kid.
5. Reagan has once again been taken over by the demons for the past two weeks. She has been relentless with HORRIBLE temper tantrums. And she is making it very difficult for anyone in this house to want to be around the poor child. Most tantrums stem around the fact that her clothes suddenly make her feel “crazy.” She won’t wear skirts because it makes her too cold. She won’t wear pants or pantyhose because they make her “crazy.” This shirt makes her too cold. That one isn’t pretty enough. I think she is down to gown-like pajama dresses and well nothing else. Please make the weather warm up so I can see if shorts are to her liking!!! It has gotten so bad that Brandon has suggested taking her out and letting her buy her own new wardrobe. But, I doubt any clothes can take the crazy away. So I am currently racking my brain, trying to figure out how to perform a clothing exorcism on a three year old. Until then, I’d have to admit that the child is very close to wearing through what’s left of my last nerve. Then what?
6. Sydney has been an awesome kid! Very helpful. Very happy. Loves school. Very Happy-Go-Lucky. She doesn’t seem to get as emotional as most girls her age which is a blessing in its self. She cleans her room without asking. Sets the dinner table. What else can I say.
7. I’ve so far gained 7 pounds. Two in the first 16 weeks and the remaining five in the last 4 weeks. I think that’s pretty good. Now starting to think about taking a prenatal Yoga and water aerobics class. Just to get myself some type of exercise. This kid seems to be carrying low and is playing on my bladder constantly. Either clamping it shut so I can’t pee at all. Or giving it a hard kick which makes me pee when I wasn’t expecting to…not a good thing. So I figured a few extra kegels and an exercise regimen could be in order.
8. We’re heading off to Indiana in a few days for my nephew Ryan and Lauren’s big wedding day. They started dating in high school. Remind you of anyone??? Reagan is to serve as the flower girl. She has been practicing her march and is very excited. I am just hoping her dress doesn’t make her “crazy.” I am really excited to see everyone. I have a new niece, Sophie, that we are dying to meet. We get to see how big Isaiah has gotten. And most of all, we will have lots of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who are ready and extremely willing to take the kids off our hands for a few days. It’ll be a quick trip but everyone is excited.
9. Now that we know the sex of the baby I am getting into gear for converting the bedrooms. First, Reagan has her new shelves, dresser and room theme picked out. Her old stuff goes into the nursery. Her current bed can be raised to a low loft giving her a play space under her bed. Then just a few accessory pieces turn it into a princess bed complete with tower and slide. And of course there will be fairies on the walls. I need to start stripping the old baby border, repaint the walls, and apply the fairy Wallies before we order the new furniture. I think it will turn out really cute. Next, we will move onto the guest room which will now reside in our current gym. Nothing much to do besides rearrange the room and hang a few things on the walls to make it as inviting as it was upstairs. Then lastly, we get to redo the nursery. I’ve just picked out a really adorable theme that I am really excited about. Since we know the sex and its the last kid we get to make it gender friendly. No more gender-safe yellow nursery. Just need to paint, apply the Wallies, and put all the baby stuff back up. Sounds like a lot of work but I’m looking forward to seeing how everything turns out. Now just need to come up with the finances to get Reagan her new furniture. The tax man wasn’t too good to us this year. But, that’s a whole other story.

About two months ago I was at a party with a bunch of women around the neighborhood. The topic of conversation seemed to be centering around the Twilight movie that had recently been out. I, knowing nothing about the apparent cult following surrounding this book was the only one there who was not completely obsessed with the series. I always thought Twilight was some teenage movie for the tween girls. As soon as they found out I had not read the books they were all surrounding me telling me how I was missing out. Apparently the lead character, Edward, was the subject of every woman’s fantasies. And they were really good fantasies. So they began telling me the base of the series. Edward is a vampire who falls in love with a human and the story goes on from there.
Ok first, I don’t really make time for reading too much since college. I find it hard to find a book that is able to keep my interest beyond the first few chapters. Second, there always seems to be something more interesting to do then sitting around reading. And third, the idea of a vampire love story didn’t sound too appealing. So I went home and told Brandon that all the women were fantasizing about this Edward and thought it was funny. This seemed to spike his interest more then me and within a few weeks he had bought me the first book.
While in Costa Rica we had a down day at the beach so I decided to start reading this Twilight book. Ok, I must have loved the book because it was finished by the next afternoon. By now, I too was in love with Edward but I was in Costa Rica. I had to wait to get home to buy the next book. Once home, I ordered the remaining three books and had them all read within the next two weeks. Brandon was whining because he was being ignored. But, hey he bought me the first book. He started it.
So, needless to say I really enjoyed this series. Though I find myself a bit sad that there will be no more to the story. I find myself wondering what will happen to Bella, Edward, Jacob or Renesmee. Will the Volturri come back? How will things happen between Renesmee and Jacob? Will the pact between the werewolves and vampires hold? Guess I’ll have to make things up for myself.
Last week we rented the movie. I thought it was a good portrayal of the book. But, the special effects could have been better. And it seemed as though they were so eager to fit everything in that the story seemed rushed. I think the man playing Edward was good, but he lacked something. His voice was too modern american and he seemed to be holding something back . Can’t quite put my finger on it. But, it was still good. Anyway, looking forward to the next movie. Maybe they will get a bigger budget this time around and the effects won’t be so cheezy.
Until then, I guess I’ll have to wait to see Edward in my dreams. Sorry B, you just can’t compete…… 🙂

Day of Pampering

Today I decided I was due a day of pampering. Well, as pampered as you can get when your just 3 days from being half way through a pregnancy. I started the morning with a prenatal massage. My lower back has been killing me for about a week. I hit the chiropractor last Saturday but it seemed to still be out of whack. Then two days ago I was on the floor playing with the kids and soon realized, too late, that the hard floor was really messing up the ole back. So Brandon gave me one of his massage appointments hoping that might help. I’ll know in a day or two if it worked to relieve some of the pain.
Next, I met Daddy and the kids out for lunch. Where it was decided that the entire family was due for some pedicure/manicure action. Nice addition to the day of relaxation. We were the only ones in the joint because the next snow storm is due any minute. So we let the kids run a muck and just took our time.
Unfortunately, now I need to pick up the house a bit. So the pampering is over. Oh, well. I bet I can get the hubby to pass on a few more of those massage appointments as the weeks go on. So until next time.
Oh, and I have been waiting for that infusion of second trimester energy to kick in but it seems to be keeping its distance this time around. I was talking to my Dad this morning and I think he put it best when he said, “Well, your pregnant and not in your 20’s anymore. The aches only get worse from here on out.” Yep, that just about sums it up.

Costa Rica

Brandon and I are back home again after our big Costa Rican adventure together. He did a great job with the blog posts so I won’t go into all of those. But at the same time I thought I should write something. And BTW, I wrote this entry a good 3 weeks ago but it took me this long to figure out how to post pictures once again. Seems as though the technology has changed much since I last blogged so I had some catching up to do. Though it could also be due to the fact that I am married to a computer geek who is constantly changing to the newest coolest technologies and I can’t keep up. Either way, I’ve got it figured out for now.
Costa Rica has been on the top of my must see places for at least 5 years now. Its got animals, beaches and all types of adventures. How can you go wrong? Plus, its the closest of my must see places so its the easiest to check off the list. I have tried to talk the hubby into taking me over the years but it never seemed like it would be much fun with small children. Plus, the kiddos were too young to leave for that long. So we have been focusing on Mexico over the past few years. Mexico will always be a love of ours but we were ready for more. We never want to be those people who always go to the same place year after year. There are so many amazing places to see and we are anxious to get started. Sure the upcoming bambino will once again put a slight delay on this plan. But, this trip gave us a much needed taste of what is out there.
Anyway, so last fall Brandon owed me. Told me I had an open checkbook to whatever my heart desired. So without hesitating I got a babysitter (grandma) lined up and booked our long awaited trip to Costa Rica. I didn’t know exactly what area to visit but knew I wanted beaches as well as rainforest access. So after much research we decided on the small town of Quepos which lies along the southern pacific border of the country. It also borders the Manuel Antonio National Park which is supposed to be loaded with all types of critters. Next we focused on what types of adventures we could experience in the area. We were excited about the zip line canopy tours, the river or ocean kayaking and of course just hiking around the rainforest. Now came the waiting.
So, a couple months passed. We felt bad that the kids weren’t going with us. Daddy made a last minute decision to take the kids to Disney Land. He said, they had been great kids and they deserved it. Sparing you all the details, a few weeks later we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we would be adding one more addition to the Fuller family. So yes, Disney really is a magical place.
Needless to say we now had to cut back on the planned activities. I was only 14 weeks along during the trip and still nauseous off and on so I wasn’t going to be able to handle as much as I’d hoped. We still had a blast. Absolutely fell in love with Costa Rica and will definitively be going back again so our missed adventures will wait until then. I had planned on just telling people I was fat and trying to still sneak in on things. But, I was eventually guilted in to playing it safe. I was still tired all the time anyway from the first trimester blues so it probably would have been too much for me. The heat and humidity got to me more then I would have thought. I can’t handle much food at a time so I have to eat small meals every coupIe of hours. The food we could pack in the heat wasn’t sustaining me too well. I then overheated a few times and the combination of the two made me sick. But, for what I could handle I think we got a lot done.
So, in the end we had a great time. We really needed to have a week to ourselves with no kids to worry about. Costa Rica was a great place. A little better off then Mexico. The people were all very friendly. And the area was still small enough that you weren’t crowded with tourists all the time. They had great hidden beaches, amazing wildlife and it was simply beautiful. I have to thank my hubby for taking the time to just be with me. Sorry that I wasn’t in my tip top shape but I hope you still had a good time. Where too now?
Of course, we also need to thank the grandparents for taking a little over a week off to watch over the kiddos. I think they left with a better understanding of how their grandkids live. And just maybe had some fun along the way. I know the kids enjoyed showing off everything they can do for Nana and Papa. Although, Reagan is still complaining about how bad Papa’s coffee stinks. I think it scarred her for life 🙂
Here are a few of my favorite pictures. I will avoid any pictures of me since I looked like a bloated cow. The wildlife was much more interesting anyway.

18 Weeks

Well, I’ve made it to 18 weeks now. The nausea finally went away during week 16 so I am feeling much better now. I am still overly tired most of the time and have constant stabbing pains in my boobs but my doctor said I should expect those both to go away within the next two weeks. So I should feel more human soon. Since my last post I have had two visits with the OB. First one, at 15 weeks. The heartbeat was in the 140’s which is much lower then my first two pregnancies. So if you believe the old wives tale that means a little boy is likely. But, at the 17 week checkup the heart rate was in the 150-160’s so there goes that theory. We have the big Ultrasound scheduled for April 8th so we will know the sex for sure then. My body is also starting to feel the tolls of a pregnancy. I think this week I will get in with the chiropractor and masseuse to work out some kinks. I can tell there is absolutely no stomach muscle left as I try to get up from a sitting position. So I can tell the blimp phase will be here shortly. Yippee!
Here is a picture of the bump at week 16. I think I have about two pictures of me pregnant during my last two pregnancies. So I am trying to get a few more this time around. This is the last time after all so I feel more of a need to document this time around.
